The New Rheem Gas Furnace Platform is Here!

Rheem R95P Gas Furnace

Over the summer, Rheem rolled out a new furnace, the 90%+ Gas Furnace platform. The new furnace is not only energy efficient, it’s quiet and it’s easy to maintain, offering consumers a great value. Plus, its improved installation and multi-poise design makes the 90%+ unit easy to install. The new Rheem furnaces maintain the 34-inch height of the old ones, so that older homes can be retrofitted with these new energy-efficient models. Contractors can select a left, right, up flow or down flow for faster, more flexible installation.

Features

  • LED light display shows unit performance and error codes for improved service calls, standard on all furnaces in Rheem’s 90%+ line. This reduces the risk of error and the need to make repeat visits.
  • Faster, easier installation translates to cost savings for the customer.
  • Hemmed edges make the unit safer to service. Contractors won’t get scratched when servicing the unit.
  • Improved door fasteners: The new quarter-turn door fasteners allow technicians to access the unit faster and without needing tools. Additionally, all of the major parts can be accessed from the unit’s front, further shortening service calls.
  • Pre-marked condensate hoses – Reconfiguring the furnace means repositioning the condensate hoses, a process of trial and error. Rheem’s 90%+ line pre-marks the hoses for faster, smoother reconfiguration.
  • Direct spark ignition: This new ignition is nine times more reliable than the hot surface ignition used in older furnaces.

Benefits

The new furnace operates with 20 percent less noise than older Rheem and Ruud units, eliminating the disturbance of operating sounds through the use of rubber vibration isolators, reduced blower wattage and an improved heat exchanger. The 90%+ Gas Furnace platform boasts 98 percent annual fuel utilization energy, which means that 98 BTUs of actual heat are output for every 100 BTU put through the system with only 2 BTU wasted. This places Rheem’s new line of furnaces among the most energy efficient furnaces available to consumers.

Customers may be able to redeem a federal tax credit to save money by installing an energy efficient Rheem furnace. The $150 tax credit is good through the end of 2013 and can incentivize customers to upgrade their old furnace with a new quieter, more energy efficient model.
