HVAC Rebates Available in 2021

HVAC Rebates Available in 2021The thought of purchasing a new HVAC system can be daunting, but there are multiple factors that can ease the sticker shock of a new air conditioner or furnace. New equipment will be far superior to your old equipment in terms of efficiency, which can mean significantly lower energy costs and better performance. Another consideration is the HVAC rebates that are available for more reliable, high-efficiency equipment.

Benefit of rebates

Rebates are designed to encourage consumers to replace outdated energy-guzzling equipment with new energy efficient equipment in order to reduce the negative impacts on the environment. Taking advantage of these incentives benefits consumers by putting money back in their pockets.

Rebates can come from manufacturers, municipalities or utility companies, so be sure to ask your HVAC company about all the rebates that are available for your model and location.

Utility company rebates can add up

Rebates are often available for:

  • Air source heat pumps
  • Air conditioners
  • Natural gas furnaces
  • Natural gas boilers
  • Natural gas water heaters
  • Natural gas tankless water heaters

How to qualify

  • Make sure the model you are interested in purchasing qualifies for a rebate.
  • For Xcel rebates, your new equipment must be installed by contractors who are registered with Xcel’s rebate program.
  • Check the program expiration dates. Dates may vary depending on the technology.
  • Be sure the rebate applies to the location of the home where the new equipment will be installed and, in the case of Xcel, that the property is an Xcel customer.

Some rebate programs require that your new, energy efficient equipment is replacing an older, inefficient system. To qualify, your trade-in must be operational or capable of becoming operational with repairs.

Xcel Residential Cooling Rebates

Xcel residential customers in Colorado can earn up to $500 in rebates when purchasing a high-efficiency cooling system. Your contractor must be committed to Xcel Energy’s Quality Installation guidelines. A rebate of $500 is available for a new high efficiency A/C or ASHP system that has a minimum 15+ SEER rating or a 12.5 EER rating. A rebate of $200 is available for a new standard efficiency A/C or ASHP that has a SEER rating under 15 or an EER rating under 12.5

Don’t wait!

Rebates are typically around for a specific, limited period of time, so it is important to take advantage of them as soon as possible.
